Attendance & Absenteeism
Coming to school regularly is an integral part of a student’s life. This inculcates discipline and regularity in a student, which in turn inculcates moral values and ensures holistic education. No student will be allowed to enter the class without a leave application if he/she has been absent the previous day. (Refer to Student Almanac for Student Leave Application format)
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
- Students are responsible for making up all work missed during the period of their absence.
- No student will be allowed to leave the school campus during the school hours. However, in case of any emergency, the parent(s)/ guardian should come to the school with Bearer card and an application, explaining the reason to take the ward(s). If the Principal is satisfied with the explanation, the ward(s) may be allowed to go after filling the Early Dismissal Form / Gate Pass.
- Early Dismissal will be permitted only in case of any family emergency / medical issue. Avoid scheduling medical appointment or non-school activities during school hours.
- No student who was absent on the previous day will be admitted to the class without the diary note from the parent/guardian in the regularity record of the Almanac.
- If sick leave is availed and it is more than 2 days, the parents should submit the medical certificate along with the leave application form.
- Absence without granted leave or unexplained absence for six consecutive working days will lead to strict disciplinary action as deemed fit.
- Absence without proper information over the period of a week and continuous absence for 90 days or more with or without information renders a pupil liable to have his/her name struck off the roll the admission fee must be paid again for re-admission.
- All students are expected to attend the school on the first and last working day of school after and before each vacation. Un-intimated absence for 3 consecutive working days immediately after a vacation, session or a term will result in the student's name being struck off the rolls.
- 85% of attendance is required to be eligible for promotion to the next class. This stipulation can be relaxed on genuine medical grounds, at the sole discretion of the Head of School.
- Students who require medical attention during school hours may be sent to the school Sick Bay / Infirmary by the homeroom teacher / educator concerned, who will enter the nature of the complaint and sign the School Sick Bay / Infirmary Record of the Almanac.
- Students who borrow uniform, from the school infirmary must return it after cleaning it on the next working day. If borrowed uniform is not returned on the due date a fine @ Rs 10/- per day will be charged. If the student takes crepe bandage, a new crepe bandage has to be given to the infirmary.
- Parents will be promptly informed in the event of serious illness or emergency and may be requested to come to school to take their ward home, if necessary.
- A student returning to school after suffering from an infectious or contagious disease should produce a doctor’s fitness certificate permitting her / him to attend school.
Students suffering from the following disease must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to school. However, the exact period of quarantine will depend upon the severity of the infection which should be confirmed by a certificate medical practitioner.

- All students are expected to attend school on the first day following the vacations. Absence on the day of closing /reopening of the school before/after vacations will attract strict disciplinary action.
- Absence from school for merely social functions is strongly discouraged. No leave will be granted for family functions, vacation, festivals, ceremonies, overseas trips etc.
- Leave during Periodic Test, Half yearly and Annual examination should be strictly avoided as it may hamper the child’s Academic Progress and Promotion to higher class.
- Students unable to appear in Examination due to medical reasons should submit application to Principal along with photocopies of medical prescription and medical certificate.
- It is the sole responsibility of Parents to inform School / Class Teacher if child is absent. School will enquire only when child is absent for more than 2 continuous days without permission.
- Attendance is compulsory for all tests and examinations held during the year, failing which the student will be marked ABSENT. It is the responsibility of both students and their parents to ensure that they do not miss any Written Tests or Examinations.
- Unfair Means: Students found using any unfair means during any of the examinations, will be awarded zero in that subject. The parent and the concerned student will be summoned and asked to provide an explanation. A repeat of such cheating in the future will result in the prompt issue of a Transfer Certificate without notice.
- Requests for the issue of Progress Cards before the declaration of results will not be entertained.
- Exam dates are decided in advance. Exam / Assessment cannot be conducted on any other date/day for parents’ personal convenience/requirement.
