15Th August, is a red letter day in the history of India. On this day in 1947, our country becomes free form the long imprisonment of the British rule. Since 1947, 15th August is celebrated every year with great joy and pride. It reminds us of the great struggle of our freedom from the British rule. The great sacrifice for our freedom fighters are remembered, which serves as a beacon light for the development of this great country. The main function is held at Red Fort in Delhi where the Prime Minister unfurls the National flag.
Oxford World School also celebrated the Independence Day in our school compound, with great enthusiasm and zeal. The school building and the ground were cleaned and decorated for the occasion. A flag pole was put up in the playground. The ceremony started at 8:30 AM in the school open ground.
The Chief guest Col RAKESH YADAV Commandant Army Sports Institute, Pune & Lt Col DARA SINGH CHAHAL , Training Officer, Army Sports Institute, NEERAJ GOYAT, professional boxer from India [He won the title of India's most promising boxer in 2008. He is also the first Indian professional boxer to fight a 12-round fight and win it and the first Indian to have made it to WBC world rankings (ranked 35) Also he won the Award of WBC Asia ‘Honorary Boxer of the year’ 2017] & RAHUL GALANDE , President at Professional Boxing Organization of India were present during the celebration. The Chairman RAVINDRA GALANDE and members of RLM Foundation were also present during the celebration.
Col RAKESH YADAV Commandant Army Sports Institute, Pune & Lt Col DARA SINGH CHAHAL , Training Officer, Army Sports Institute, NEERAJ GOYAT, professional boxer from India & RAHUL GALANDE , President at Professional Boxing Organization of India were present during the celebration unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom. The celebration continued with welcome dance by Class II A student followed by patriotic songs, dance performances and skit entitled UNITY IN DIVERSIT by the OWS students. The Class III A students expressed their sentiments and aspirations for the country through English and Hindi speeches. The Principal, Dr. KAVITA K ROY in her speech urged the students to take the pledge towards a Clean India, Poverty-free India, Corruption-free India, Terrorism-free India, and Communalism-free India to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
